This little bakery tucked into the heart of Alberta art district is so perfectly named. The Garden of Eden was a place of respect for the connections humans have to animals and the earth that sustains them both. Back to Eden Bakery Boutique is friendly and local, completely vegan, mostly organic, sustainable in practice, and best of all largely gluten-free. The sit down area is bright and inviting with vegan cookbooks galore that make even the most dedicated meat eaters think twice as they salivate over the delicious recipes. I had the chocolate orange cheesecake which was delightful, and the perfect compliment to my coffee with hazelnut milk. With its creamy, rich chocolate topping, not-to-sweet, smooth cheese center, and thin caramelized, crunchy bottom, my only wish was for a little more of that delicious crunch underneath which added such a nice texture contrast to the rest of the cake. Definitely, look forward to coming to this place again with book in hand and tummy ready for more tasty sweets.
